Ajumma's @ The Cathay

Super late for dinner and shops were closing for the day liao!

Wanted to eat Eighteen Chefs, but SIL wanted to eat ramen, so she decided on Ajumma's. Fine with it also. I try to avoid ordering Korean ramen though, because it tastes like instant noodles. I promised myself to try it if the authentic version is really different from the foodcourt/fastfood/cheap restaurant standard.

Spectre and Foods

Lunch was Coco Ichibanya because I missed Japanese curry rice. So glad for the less rice option. I was still stuffed.

Sister and I had Nana Green Tea for snack while Brother went to meet SIL. The layout of the restaurant is so stupid. They designated an opening with 2 steps as the entrance/exit. Sister bounced me down the steps. We thought we would have to get Brother to carry me out later.

Nikunohi

Hanging out with Brother at Suntec City after its renovation. Checking out the new cluster of Japanese restaurants, Eat at Seven. It's not fully-opened yet, but the current choices are adequate.

Artichoke

It's Sister's birthday. This year, she picked a hipster restaurant, Artichoke.

I took a cab there with parents. As usual, I was held up by work. We passed by this place in the dark:
Just imagine it's dark, ok?

Department BBQ @ ECP

What! This month's department gathering is BBQ @ ECP?? Damn, cannot siam liao! I better go, else got to standby like last time!

The haze has been very bad these days, but today, the air has improved by leaps and bounds. In the morning, the organizers sent confirmation email that we will proceed and they have prepared masks for all of us.

Yeah, I think the haze is nothing compared to BBQ smoke lah.

Grab iHerb

I have been very bothered by the build-up on my scalp. Normal shampooing was inefficient at removing it. Using brushes caused too much hairloss. If there's facial scrub for face, why isn't there scalp scrub?

Then, I read about exfoliating shampoo containing salicylic acid. It softens the build-up for easy removal. Neutrogena has such a product, but it strangely does not seem to exist in Singapore. Many other brands were of a more upmarket range.

Mineral Fusion was raved as an affordable and effective product. And guess what, iHerb carries it!! Haha I thought stuff like salicylic acid is chemical and frowned upon! Does it qualify by virtue of being paraben-free, cruelty-free and vegan? Like trying very hard lor!

But it's out of stock :(

Shinkei Japanese Restaurant

Our property agent has promised to give us a treat once she gets her commission for selling us our new home. Guess what, she only got it recently?! So a newbie will have to eat air for one year?? Tough life man.

Since our agent is treating, we let her suggest the place. Later if we quote too atas, very paiseh one mah. She suggested Shinkei at Toa Payoh Central. Never been there or heard of it. People chia then go try lor haha.

I asked her to give me a ride, which she gladly obliged. She said she saw a durian on the road!! Dangerous object sia!

We waited for Brother to meet us at the carpark so he could help me out of the car.

Today, we have our agent and her husband, Brother and SIL and me. Great for sharing food, as it's an ala carte Japanese buffet! The food was ok for the price, I think ~$40/pax?

Waiting time for the cooked dishes can be very long, so it's advisable to order all you want at once. Sometimes it's sooo long that we suspect that the kitchen was waiting for a minimum order of the same dish before prepating. The serving size of the cooked dishes are very small, but that's fine, prevent overeating/overordering mah.

According to HGW, this place has closed down. What a pity.

KL Trip - Day 3

Hi, Chuai Heng Restaurant, we are here again! Yumcha brunch this time! Real yumcha, eating dim sum! After the dinner, Brother realized that it was the same restaurant that he had roast duck with X from a previous trip. He ordered it again. The dim sum was not bad, but the fried noodles were meh. We dapaoed it, but I really don't think we will be eating it.

Mother's Rush-Rush Birthday Cake

Today is Mother's birthday, but we have not prepared anything since she wanted to celebrate in KL. But cannot take her words seriously one!

X was tasked with getting an eggless fruit cake from Emicakes.
And it all went well.

The cakes tastes alright. I would eat it again.

Pre-KL Banquet Haircut

Brother's KL wedding banquet was coming up, so Sotong needed a haircut.

What! Really! Not an excuse!

Holland V again. Lunch first. The weather was scorching-hot! Found a random restaurant with set lunch, Madrinaa Italiano.

Worked out to $28.25/pax. The food was delectable! Special mention to the tiramisu!

After my haircut, we headed to Jurong again. Does that mean we have to come here for the post-haircut walk-walk forever?

We had a hard time deciding what to have for dinner. X suddenly decided that she wanted to have ramen, so here we are at Ippudo. Not that I don't like Ippudo, but I'm trying to diversify my meals!
Still, nothing like a good bowl of ramen.

You must be thinking... how come everytime the post about cutting hair, end up talking about food one...

Second Attempt at Father's Day Dinner

Hot Sunday afternoon. 2 humans and 1 sotong looking for food at Marina Square.

Random pick: Three Bistro. Because there was a set lunch menu and I was in the mood for western food.

Today's plan: Go walk walk, join family for Jurassic World, then early Father's Day dinner.

In the mood for pasta. Went to nex as I haven't been there for a couple of years and I wanted to be near our movie place.

Mother's Day @ Yes Natural

Mother-gets-to-decide-day.

She wanted to try a restaurant opened by one of her suppliers. With her vague directions, nobody will be able to find the place.

Don't believe me?

Ok, try "restaurant near Aljunied MRT"?

We got the actual address after Mother went to recce and we googled the restaurant name.

Wilder Mann

It's Brother's birthday, so it's time to try some place with meat and beer. How about a German restaurant since I won't be going to Germany any time soon?

Found Wilder Mann off the internet. Looks affordable. But they don't do pork knuckles on weekends. Tried requesting for it and they were so accommodating. Yay!

Brother's Wedding

Today is the big day! Like FINALLY. I'm so glad we just have to put up with 2 months' worth of crankiness from Mother instead of the usual 2-3 years for most Singaporeans.

I will be omitting the gushing about how handsome and pretty everybody is and how happy I am for the couple. Obvious things no need to say :)

I skipped my morning PT and took half day leave for the afternoon instead. No thanks to the fucking last minute CR with ever-changing requirements where I had to create a monthly batch job pulling massive results. I couldn't participate in the morning activities as I was working. I know it's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and he's my brother, but seriously... there's nothing much for me lah. Even if I have taken whole day leave, I would be stoning most of the time. Leave is a scarce resource.

Dulcet & Studio

Meeting up with my dear friends today! J was driving and could go to town, so I suggested that we go to Liang Court because I wanted to check out the cakes at Dulcet & Studio. Brother wanted to get X a birthday cake, so the cafe's proximity to the dinner venue made it the perfect choice.

Haircut and Star Vista

Thank goodness CNY is very late this year, giving us more time to do our preparations.
